Grab a cup of coffee, tea, or better yet milk, and join us for a biweekly update on the fast-moving activity taking place under the new administration. Edge Director of Government Affairs Karen Gefvert will be joined by the Torrey Advisory Group and other staff members to give timely updates and reports on matters important to your farms and businesses. These 30-minute updates will be followed by a discussion session to answer questions and receive member input.

 

These sessions are open to any current member of one of the Voice of Milk organizations: Edge, DBA, or Minnesota Milk.

Trump orders new tariff probe into US lumber imports

U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday ordered a new trade investigation that could heap more tariffs on imported lumber, adding to existing duties on Canadian softwood lumber and 25% tariffs on all Canadian and Mexican goods due this week.

On March 2, 2025, the Treasury Department announced suspension of the March 21, 2025 deadline for filing under the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) for any domestic companies or U.S. citizens.

This panel discussion will bring discuss the outcomes and why farmers are encouraged about the results.

Data-driven sustainably efforts across 100,193 acres

Farmers in the Upper Midwest are utilizing actionable data to make informed decisions about the conservation practices implemented on their farms. Results from the first year of a five-year effort through the Farmers for Sustainable Food Climate-Smart Program showed that these sustainable farming practices are achieving positive environmental outcomes.

Dairy Market Report for Feb 28

Welcome back to our Dairy Market Report! We partner with Ever.Ag to bring you highlights of recent dairy market activities, as well as a summary of key market indicators.

 

Dairy markets moved lower this week under the weight of supply. CME spot blocks tumbled 9.5 cents on Friday, falling to $1.7750 per pound, down $0.1250 from last week. Barrels slid two cents to close at $1.7800. Whey dropped to $0.5100, down 3.5 cents to the lowest price since July 2024. With cheap and plentiful cream available, butter slid to $2.3450, down seven cents.
